One Month Check Up
Madison had her one month check up last week. It is amazing how much she has grown. She now weighs 8 lbs and 14oz. and is 20 inches long! Everything looks great! Madison ventured out for the first time on Friday for lunch and then Saturday night she went to her first restaurant and then Academy (of course-Daddy's favorite store). I took some pictures of her Saturday night to document her first Saturday night out! Notice how much bigger she is in the car seat compared to the previous car seat pictures! The last is a picture from this weekend with Peyton.

Happy Anniversary!
Today is our 14th wedding anniversary. I have scanned some photos for your viewing pleasure. Some of my hair styles make me want to cringe! Enjoy laughing at us.

Bragging, Baseball and Beta
I used to be a great scrapbooker. Peyton has the first nine years of his life documented in scrapbooks. Yes, I know he is 10 which mean this year has not been documented in a scrapbook. That is part of the reason why I started this blog. It is a great way to keep up with events and put photos to dates and I thought it would be a great thing to refer back to when making his scrapbook. Actually, recently I went back and printed pictures and wrote dates of all the events since his birthday. I had the crazy idea that while I was on my leave from work I could catch up on his scrapbook. I mean how much work could a little newborn be? Needless to say those pictures are still stacked in my bedroom waiting for a book! So long story short ... not really. I am documenting some things Peyton has accomplished lately for that scrapbook I hope to one day complete.
First, Peyton was inducted into the National Beta Club at his school. He has kept his grades up and worked hard to achieve this honor and we are proud of him. Below are a couple of horrible pictures from the event. On a side note Allen took the first two and I took the last one! Which one is better? HEHEHE
The second big event in Peyton's life is he pitched a no hitter on Friday night! He struck out 11 of 13 batters. One batter hit the ball straight back to him and he threw them out at first and one batter was hit by a pitch. According to my baseball informants this counts as a no hitter! Also Peyton hit a home run! It was an exciting game. Madison attended for the first time and Peyton said she has to come back every time now! Because she was his good luck charm! I figured if she didn't get some Reidville ball dirt on her before she was a month old then we were in trouble!
This first picture was an attempt to get a family photo. Please notice my 10 year old is smiling sweetly while my husband is eating his Icee! Lovely shot!

Our Busy Household
Things around our house are busy, busy. We are enjoying our time with our new addition.Peyton has turned into a great big brother. He loves holding Madison and as been very helpful. I am amazed at how well he has adjusted. He has been wonderful going from all the attention and help he needs to having to share attention and help us.
Madison is doing well. We have switched to soy formula in hopes of making her a little happier after eating. We are loving watching her change and grow everyday. She is a sweet baby and good cuddlier.
Peyton is in the process of trying out for all stars and finishing his regular season of baseball. He had a game last night he pitched and had no runs scored on him and struck out 7 batters! He hit a triple to score 3 runs! We are very proud of him!
Allen has been great helping with Madison. I can tell it has been 10 years since I have done the late night feedings. But Allen has been great to help out when he gets home from work. I am loving every minute of being home with her and look forward to when Peyton is out of school and we can spend time together this summer. Below are some pictures of my sweet kids. I can't believe how much Madison has grown!
This last picture is Peyton at his end of the year writing club party. He read his writing about.. what else-baseball! He has really grown up the last few months. It is sad to see my baby acting so grown up!

Two Weeks Ago
Two weeks ago Madison Elizabeth came into this world at 6:14am. She was not breathing and had to be revived. The cord was wrapped around her neck and middle. We watched her oxygen levels drop and heard alarms ringing every few hours. We watched nurses and doctors get those levels back up with just a touch of a hand. We had totally faith in God that He had brought us this far He would see us through. We watched our tiny girl be loading into a transport cart to be taken to another hospital. We felt prayers from so many people. We drove to the NICU at 10 that night not having been able to hold our baby girl. We walked into the NICU and saw so many tiny babies and knew that ours was going to be ok. If God could heal these babies He could heal Madison. Finally at 2:30am I was able to hold our sweet girl and the calm came over me that it would be ok.
We got to experience God in so many ways over the next few days. He was there in the family that trusted us to raise Madison for them. He was there in the doctors and nurses who shared with us even when they weren't suppose to. He was there when we couldn't hold Madison ourselves. He was there when we got 3 hours sleep in our car. He was there the next day when we had to split time between our baby and the family we had grown so close to. He was there when Madison had no more oxygen drops (she had none once she was transported). He was there when we walked out of the doors on Friday with our baby girl!
Our church recently did a study on Experiencing God and throughout the study I could related to things that had happened in our adoption journey. However, the most extraordinary experiences came after she was born. We were so blessed to have so many people praying for us during that week. Our church was extremely supportive and our phone rang constantly (but we didn't answer most of the time-not allowed in the NICU) with people concerned for us and Madison. I received countless e-mails from people that let us know we were being prayed for and offers to help out in any way. We are so thankful to all the people who prayed for us and sent us kind words. Even if we weren't able to respond we really appreciate it and it is what got us through that week! Now that we are home I still see God at work. He has shown me so much. Mostly I have learned that you live by faith and not sight. If you trust in Him you can get through anything.

By Request
I know it has been a week! Things are crazy right now. Little Miss has her days and nights mixed up! FUN! So not much is getting done around here. I had a request for some new pics. She is over a week old! Went to doctor yesterday and she is up to 6lbs. 12oz. All looks good. Big brother is really sweet with her and I can tell she already has him wrapped around her finger.

Meet Madison
