United Tour

Allen and I had got a great surprise Saturday. One of my dad's customers gave him free tickets to the United tour which is Micheal W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman. I was so excited! It was the best concert I have ever seen! They were so entertaining and did a lot of songs together. It was a fun date night with my hubby. Below are some pics of the show..just discovered there are none of us but we were there!

Friday Field Trip!

Friday I took a personal day and went on a field trip with PD's class. We went to Atlanta and toured the Aquarium and Coke World! The trip was a really fun and we enjoyed both of the tours. We had to be there at 6:15 that morning and thanks to a broken down bus didn't return until 8:30 that night. Yes I was stuck on a bus with 50+ fifth graders for five hours !! We left Atlanta at 3:30 that afternoon! Good times!
PD and one of his buddies on the bus!

Fifth grade boys trying to entertain themselves on a broken down bus! Don't know what they were doing and don't want to know!

The crew I toured with

The whale shark... it was huge!

Raising our hands for Coke!

Hanging out at the soda shop
Are we cool or what? Heading into the 4D movie
The Smart Apple Soda from China... we hope to try there sometimes in the near future! :)

This was a really fun trip and I enjoyed spending time with PD and his friends. I got to meet a sweet girl that is special to him too but I won't post her picture. She is a cutey and I can say he has good taste!

Where were you this weekend?

We spent our weekend here:PD had a tournament with the team who wants him to play travel ball. I must say it was an experience and a long weekend. We were at the ball field Saturday morning at 9:45 and did not get home until 7 Saturday night. Sunday it was the same story. PD had 4 games this weekend and had a good time playing. His team did ok for their first tournament together. They played very well on Sunday and won their last game. We think it had something to do with a lucky dime in PD 's shoe from his Uncle Mike. As a matter of fact he wore it in his shoe to school today so he wouldn't get any checks and it worked again! Below are some pictures of the action.

PD getting ready to head for home.

Watching the pitcher to see if he can steal home!

Still waiting.
Sliding into home.. no he was out!

Ready for a play at first!

Trying to hold them on first.

Running for third

Sunday after the final game.. do you think he is tired?
It was a good experience for us this weekend to see what travel ball involves. I have to say to is a huge commitment that we are not ready to make at this time. For us the main thing that we can not commit to is missing church twice a month to play ball. We love our church and we feel it is important for our family to be there. This was one of those times when it is hard to be a parent because we are doing what is best for PD in the long run but I don't think at his age he sees it that way. We had a talk about it last night and he is disappointed but I think he understands that there are more important things for our family. We have come to an agreement that we will get him some private pitching and batting lessons instead. We believe in the long run he will benefit from that more. We also did not feel a united feeling with the team. We just didn't see it as a good fit for us. I am glad that PD had the experience and we were able to see what that world is like but we know that we are not ready for it !
I will say there was one team out there that I was very impressed with and could totally see us being on that type of team. This team had prayer together on the mound with the team they played after every game. (I missed this with my camera) I also got the feeling there was some kind of worship together for those families since they missed church for the tournament. I thought that was a good way for those families to have both!
On a side note the tournament was at Heritage Park in Simpsonville and it was awesome! They have a beautiful place and I was so impressed! If you have not been there besides the ball fields they have a cool train ride, picnic area and playground! I want to go back soon and visit the things we didn't have time to do. I think it would be a great place for a play date! I am excited that we have no baseball on our schedule this week! We are looking forward to things finally slowing down.. at least until we start Upward!

Baseball Fun!

PD was suppose to have another baseball game on Monday night but the other team didn't show. Apparently the other teams have decided not to play our team anymore. It really stinks because the kids are the ones who suffer! They don't get to play because the coaches on the other teams don't like the fact that our team was beating everyone so badly. They even questioned if we were playing older kids (which we aren't). I hate it not only for our team but the other ones too. I just wonder what lesson they are teaching their kids. Don't play unless you can win? I mean you never know when a team will have a bad night and the other team will have a good one. So the dads played the boys at practice and as you can see it was lots of fun!

We have a tournament this weekend so we will see how things go for his team. It will be interesting to see how the whole things works and how much time is involved. We are still deciding what to do about travel ball. PD really enjoys playing Upward basketball and he would not be able to do both because of scheduling so we are really thinking hard about what is best. He has expressed interest in doing basketball again this year and I think that will be what we do for now. We don't want to totally do away with basketball because he says when he gets to middle school he wants to play so we think he could use the experience. Either way it sounds like we will be busy!

Go Gamecocks!

Allen and PD had a great time at the Carolina game on Saturday. Allen forgot the camera but got these pictures with his phone.

It has been a busy week around and no time to blog! On Sunday we had a great lunch with some friends from church at City Range and then we headed to baseball practice. It lasted from 2-5:30 and then we all came home to crash! Being out in the sun all day really drained us! Monday night PD had a dentist appointment and then a game that night. He played great and his team won! On Tuesday I had prayer group at our house. Wednesday I had a field trip and then we went to church that night . On Thursday PD was suppose to have another ball game but after we drove all the way there we found out the other team was not coming. Apparently some people got upset that our team beat another team and they decided not to play us. So we practiced and then went and ate supper with mom and dad.Tonight Allen is headed to the game with the guys while PD and I chill out.I hope we can get some rest this weekend because we have got to start all back over again!

While the Boy are Away!

Well my boys were away tonight going to the Carolina game so I had a girls night out. The night started with pedicures with Kelli and Savannah. This was the first time Savannah had gone with us and as you can see below it was great fun! I should have got some pictures of me and Kelli too but didn't think about it. As you can see she got cute little flowers painted on her toes!

After our pedicures we took Savannah home and headed to Greenville for some girl time! We ate at Atlanta Bread and then headed to shop! We had ventured to G'ville to find a store Kelli had seen advertise with some great deals but we didn't go in when we discovered it wasn't what we expected! However, we did some great deals at Kohl's and found a cute jewelry store that had some great deals! But we are not telling anyone the name because we are going to shop there for all our Christmas presents! I had just seen on What Not TO Wear that accessories make the outfit so we had some fun picking out some cute stuff! We decided one day we would like to be rich so we didn't have to look at the price tags! It was a great night and I ended it coming home and watching a chick flick! Good times!

Who is that kid in the TIGERS uniform?

I know what your thinking that can't be PD in a Tigers uniform! But yes unfortunately it is! As I said below we finished D5 fall ball on Tuesday night. Well, a friend of ours who Allen used to coach with has been calling for a while wanting PD to come play with a team his son is playing with. We have put it off and said no for a few months. But on Thursday he called again and said in their league they have 3 more weeks of fall ball and really need another player. We still weren't sure but we decided to go watch them play on Thursday and see what the coach was like and the atmosphere. Well.. when we pulled up the coach meet us and said can he play tonight? We were like well he has on shorts and tennis shoes not your normal baseball attire! But the coach and our friend said we can come up with a uniform. PD begged us to let him play so... some how they came up with a jersey, hat and pants for him to wear. We were extremely nervous because this team has beaten everyone in that league and they are very good. The first and second inning PD played in the outfield and really saw no action. In the second inning he batted and walked. After that they put him in to pitch ! Allen and I couldn't believe it and we were very nervous! But he was great and struck out all 3 batters! We were so excited. Then when he came up to bat he hit a home run! I could not believe that 1. We had NO camera! 2. No one was there but us to see it! Needless to say after the game the coach said I want him! We have decided to let him finish the fall ball season with this team and one tournament in October. This team is a travel ball team which means we would have to pay for him to join but it does have advantages. They have a pitching coach that normally works at a place that charges for lessons and we can use that facilities batting cages too. Plus the team gets matching bat bags and helmets. Not to mention they play great teams and it really would help to improve his game! On the way home he said it can be my Christmas present! So we are going to ride this out and see what happens. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing him in his uniform which by the way he had on today when I got home and said it was the best day of his life! Trust me Allen is thinking long and hard about whether we can allow him to wear this color! By the way notice the garnet sticking out of the sleeve that is his Gamecock shirt! So he is still garnet in his heart!
